Hon. Ayodeji Shomide visits Area where Downpours Wreak Havoc in Abeokuta South Local Govt.

The Transition Committee Chairman Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Ayodeji Michael Shomide and his Committee members visited areas where the concurrent downpours occurred in Abeokuta metropolis which has created tangible fear in the minds of residents of Ijeja-Igbore bridge, Ilupeju  Amolasho bridge, Kuto-Isale Oja bridge, Oja Gbangba bridge, Sawmill, Iporo Ake and Ema road off Abiola way.

Hon. Shomide who expressed deep concern for the destruction of the rains that led to the loss of millions of properties maintained that the effect of the flooding could have been curbed if necessary steps were taken by the clumsy residents if they could decline dumping of refuse on the waterways; for the amounts of refuse on the waterways largely prevented the free-flows of the cascades.

The Council boss, thereafter, urged the residents who were affected by the waterfall to desist from dumping refuse on the waterways for the I don’t care attitudes inflict the havoc in the society, adding that the State Government will frown at such actions of the residents who discard the policies of government on environmental order.

He, therefore, promised them that State Government has placed a premium on how to efface the poor situations of the excessive rainfalls in our society pressed that very soon the affected residentials shall begin to see the intervention of the State Government.

Mr Julius Olajide, resident of Ijeja community and a Youth Leader at Isale Kuto Abeokuta, Comrade Abiodun Ayeni all thanked the Chairman and State Government for their quick response and view of the destructive areas, later advised the State Government to expedite actions on what to do in order to amend the chaos in which the downpours have caused the environments.
