Exactly one year ago, the people of Ogun State came to the reality of the abandonment of the Education Sector by the former Administration in the State. In Governor Abiodun inaugural speech, he made no pretence about the enormity of challenges in the Education sector in the state. He lamented the state of the education sector, which he described as so worrisome, particularly in funding, white elephant projects some of which were moribund.

Governor Dapo Abiodun was particularly shocked at the condition of dilapidated classroom and office structures in Primary and Junior Secondary Schools, because of the staggering budgetary allocation to the Education Sector in the preceding eight years.

We have enough schools that government can renovate or upgrade to a standard level. The N1.2b spent building each of the 26 model schools (total of N33b +) by former Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, if half of the money is spent renovating existing schools across the State, Ogun State would have been competing with Lagos State in terms of structure

Gov. Dapo Abiodun, therefore, embarked on rehabilitation of public schools across the 236 wards in the state. With the level of focus, this administration is giving to repositioning and strengthening the educational institutions, it is only a matter of time before Ogun State regains its pride of place in the educational sector nationally and globally.

Fast forward to 2020, the Administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun has rehabilitated 95 Schools across the State, as part of efforts to return the State’s Education Sector to her enviable, internationally acclaimed position. Both staff and students of the schools must be eager to enjoy the accompanying comfort of their new buildings.
