The Abeokuta South Local Government All Progressives Congress plans to begin Gov. Dapo Abiodun’s 2nd term campaign with a football competition. The football competition will commence in September to kick-start the 2023 electioneering campaign for the 2nd term in office of the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
The party’s chairman, Hon. Henry Fagbenro, announced at a press conference on Wednesday at the party secretariat in Oke-Ejigbo, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The party chairman said that the football competition tagged “Dapo Abiodun Cup” is to propagate the party, APC, ahead of the 2023 general elections and also to work for the re-election of the Governor of the State, Prince Dr Dapo Abiodun, MFR, saying that the Governor has performed beyond the expectations of the people of the State.
Agbomola maintained that football competition is meant to engage the youths in the local government ahead of the general elections. He maintained that from ward 1 to ward 15 in Abeokuta South will participate in the football match.
The party chairman, however, added that only registered members of the party in each ward would be eligible for the competition. Fagbenro informed that the technical committee would be handled by the coaches in the local who are capable. He also assured us that security agencies would be on the ground throughout the competition.
Fagbenro revealed that the price for
- The first position is Two hundred thousand Naira (₦200,000)
- 2nd price is one hundred and fifty thousand Naira (₦150,000)
- 3rd price is one hundred thousand Naira (₦100,000)
The venue of event is MKO, Abiola stadium kuto , Abeokuta. He, therefore, commended the sponsor of the competition for making the initiative a reality, saying that it can not work out without money.
Meanwhile, the sponsor of the” Dapo Abiodun Cup,” the State Chairman of ACOMORAN, ACO Sowummi Kayode, said that his reason for sponsoring the program is his love for the party, the Governor of the State. Sowummi added that Dapo Abiodun’s excellent achievements so far can not be undermined in the State.
He said,” I am much interested in any programs that will contribute to the emergency of His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State, in 2023.”
He called on the residents of the State to support the re-election of Prince Dapo Abiodun so that they could continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
In addition, the chairman of the local government, Hon. Omolaja Majekodunmi commended the party chairman for his initiative, saying it was commendable. He also promised that the local government would do all it could to ensure the success of the football match.
Former commissioner for youth and sports in the State and candidate for Abeokuta South in the house of representatives, Hon. Afolabi Afuape also commended Hon. Adetunji Henry Fagbenro for the great initiative to take the party, APC, to a greater height.
He also appreciated ACO Sowummi for sponsoring the program, saying that many people like him have the money but can not sacrifice it for the party, urging him to continue in his good deeds.
Other dignitaries present at the event were the Vice chairman of the local government, Hon. Sotayo, Hon.Sabur Adefolu, Miss Bisi Ogunmokun, Mrs Simisola, All Councilors, All ward chairmen, All ward youth leaders and All local government Executives.
